This half day virtual workshop is aimed at professionals working with young people aged 15+. Focusing on the challenges related to young people, this course explores how to move a young person away from feelings of suicide and move to talking about safety. This course is a City and Guilds accredited and produced by the National Centre for Suicide Prevention. On completion of the course each learner will receive a certificate of attendance and be able to apply for an Orange Button signifying they are a person who has received appropriate training in suicide prevention and has the confidence to talk about concerns around suicide or suicidal thoughts.Funded training options are available through Lancashire Mind and their partners, which are linked to the Orange Button Community Scheme. This is a half day, online version of the Adult Mental Health First Aid course, which will qualify you as a Mental Health First Aider. Through a blend of instructor-led live sessions and self-learning activities, you will: develop practical skills to spot the signs and symptoms of mental health issues; gain confidence to reassure and support an individual in distress; and learn how to guide them towards appropriate professional support. Suicide First Aid Lite What better way to reward an accomplishment, skill, quality or academic achievement than giving a badge for them to show other. After all, it is receiving the recognition we deserve that keeps us wanting to be better. Charity Badges This one kind of speaks for itself, mainly used when visiting door to door or at trade fairs. Your design could be as simple as just saying SALE or certain percentages off. Company Badges If you would like to become an Orange Button holder, you will need to have completed at least three hours of quality assured mental health or suicide prevention training. This is to ensure you are equipped with the skills to listen and signpost people.

Everyone across Herefordshire and Worcestershire who has had at least three hours’ suicide prevention training over the past two years is being asked to become an orange button wearer.Suicide can affect anybody and there isn’t a community in Somerset where people haven’t been touched by suicide. At all times keep yourself well and be self-aware, wearing the badge is your choice only wear it when you feel well enough to support others. This includes people who have mental health first aid training. Groups likely to have had training include voluntary and community organisations, some workplaces and health and care workers. This half day workshop supports learners to know what to do if someone is feeling suicidal & become a suicide alert helper.This can only be delivered face to face.
