com The group who single-handedly created the woozy, sexual, cinematic, and meditative dance genre known as trip-hop with their 1991 masterpiece Blue Lines later went on to craft gorgeous soundtrack music and generally emerge as one of the most forward-thinking, fastidious, and s-l-o-w production teams in pop music. I feel alive"-attitude I find in Prodigy's music (and their goal was never to make deep music anyway). Nicht nur, dass auf diesem Sampler ihre größten Hits "unfinished sympathy" und "teardrop" zu finden sind, sondern auch eine Reihe - vielleicht - eher unbekannterer Lieder. Bref, j'écoute maintenant le CD "Collected" en boucle sur le lecteur de mon auto, et ne m'en lasse pas ! Robert Del Naja sings on tracks 1, 4, and 7, plays keyboards on tracks 3, 5, and 7, and scratches on track 1.

Der Clou ist nun aber, dass diese sich nahtlos in die Gesamtkonzeption des Albums einfügen und nie deplatziert wirken. The debut Massive Attack album Blue Lines was released in 1991, with the single " Unfinished Sympathy" reaching the charts and later being voted the 63rd greatest song of all time in a poll by NME. If a kick-ass collection like this is what it takes for this heady group to keep the record execs happy while they slowly hone a new album, so be it.

Notes: This version is commonly referred to as the "Japanese Tour Edition" by many online retailers, even though it does not have anything printed on it to indicate so. some coincidence or irony, I've realized it happens the only other album review I've done on Discogs (and which I now find dated) is for Prodigy's Best Of compilation. Best version of the Massive Attack's collected, in a deluxe digipack with a beautiful booklet that contains a litle of each massive's albuns art made by names like Nick Knight, also contain a full collection of videos more complete that Massive's eleven promos, in this are more 5 videos (special cases, butterfly caught, live with me, live with me - alternative version and false flags). It comes in a different packaging to the original Special Edition release and also ditches the DualDisc and instead has two separate discs for CD2 and the Videos (which now comes on a DVD).Where it differs is, while I have my preference for Prodigy (I have seen them playing live but not MA), I think I find Massive's music is the best, and this is because I (instinctively, probably) give more *value* to the "I'm feeling like a lost fish in the sea"-attitude I find in their music (like in a lot of other good melodic music) than to the good old "fuck yeah! There are two main reasons why I listen to music, and I guess they might be common to many other people's reasons: it's either for the energy or for the chilling power music can have.
