The Casks showcases another ‘crucial element of variability’ within the parallel process of cask coopering. N ose: it’s all on figs and raisins, with nice hints of dark chocolate and vanilla. Hints of Gianduja. Walnut cake. It also has the slightly peppery notes of a dry Oloroso and even a faint smoky note. It’s smooth and attractive, good start. Otherwise, I would recommend something similar to the Plasencia Reserva Original as a good cigar pairing. It’s spicy and although it does have character, it doesn’t have too much body. Therefore, it’s capable of contrasting the wine’s flavours without overwhelming it.
