The downfall is that I really really really wanted to like this book, but I'm just not a huge fan of books that require the suspension of disbelief, mostly in books like this contemporary/sci-fi hybrid.

Set to the backdrop of the Big Apple, Aaron is happy with his girlfriend Genevieve until she leaves for an art retreat, and he begins to spend time with Thomas. Adam Silvera's writing immediately absorbed me into the life of Aaron Soto--a troubled youth anxious to lose his virginity. It was also analyzed in two chapters from Engaging with Multicultural YA Literature in the Secondary Classroom. The true beauty of this book is the way Silvera subtly reveals the plot - readers find Aaron coming out to them in a gradual way. Throughout the story, the reader will find herself wanting to hug Aaron, shake him, and ultimately her heart will break for him.For adverbs containing the -ly suffix, we always use “more” in front of the adverb for the comparative or “most” for the superlative. He remembers memories that had been repressed: he secretly dated a classmate Collin while he was in a relationship with Genevieve. We normally use “more” or “most” for comparative and superlative adjectives, respectively, that cannot take a suffix, especially for an adjective with three or more syllables.

Aaron thinks he finds the answer to his problems when he discovers the Leteo Institute, a company that erases unwanted memories. This book highlights one of the main reasons I read young-adult fiction: to empathize with the deep emotions that come from great adversity and to remind myself that our worst suffering often brings our brightest light. As in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, the procedure can be used to block everything from the violent death of a loved one, an ugly breakup, or even same-sex attraction. Forget plots about an uninterested love interest or an absent parent or a group of vampires gone awry. Families can talk about the way memories, remembrance, and identity are important aspects of More Happy Than Not.Later I learn that there's even an abandoned musical in his closet about a robot that time-travels back to the Mesozoic era to study dinosaurs while singing about surviving without technology.
